Jen Walsh, Assistant Winemaker
As our assistant winemaker, Jen works alongside Winemaker Mike Sullivan to produce Benovia's acclaimed portfolio of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel wines.
Jen first gained an appreciation for fine wines as a college student working her way through the University of Pittsburgh as a server in local restaurants.
After she was graduated with a BA Degree in Philosophy and spent a handful of years as a freelance film producer in Baltimore, Jen finally decided to pursue her real passion and took an entry-level job at a small family winery in Mt. Airy, Maryland.
That experience led to a Masters Degree in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California at Davis, and a number of winery jobs in California, from novice cellar hand to top enologist.
Jen's wide range of experience has also included international stints at notable wineries in Chile and New Zealand. In addition, Jen was the winner of the prestigious Tastevin Intern Scholarship while at UC Davis which took her to the Domaine Marquis D'Angerville in Volnay, Burgundy.
Jen lives in Napa Valley with her husband and three children. When she's not busy checking barrels and shaking test tubes, Jen enjoys outdoor activities that include gardening, cycling and hiking.
